Celebrating Somerset do see

Somerset Day champions this most beautiful and bountiful of British counties.

We have the single aim of celebrating Somerset and all it has to offer, and shouting this from the treetops. Help us to let everyone know what a fantastic place the county is to live, work, visit and study.
Somerset Day’s work centres around May 11th every year, a day chosen in honour of King Alfred the Great’s routing of the Vikings from his stronghold in the Somerset marshes in May 878.

Saturday 11th May 2019 10am - 5pm Hammett St Taunton

A free to attend locally focused food and drink festival in the heart of the county town. Taking place on Hammet Street and around St Mary Magdalene Church on Saturday 11 May 2019

Somerset’s county town: Taunton is a busy town with a strong tradition of markets. This event is timed to coincide with Somerset Day #lovesomerset. We have street entertainment on the lawns surrounding the site. We will have around 90 local food and drink producers with us. In the church you will find our demo stage with chefs and cooks showcasing skills you can replicate at home – this year with a focus on family cooking. Outside on the lawns there is lots of space to relax and we will also have our DJ and the Cook School: all free to particpate in.
